Serian Camp

Serian Camp has been the home of the Mara Predator Project since it was jointly initiated by Alex Walker, the camp owner, in 2008. Serian is a small permanent tented camp located on the banks of the Mara River in the Mara North Conservancy. Many of Serian's guides have been participating in the project since 2008, and have played an important role in both identifying the Mara North Conservancy's lion population and developing the guide training scheme.

Serian Camp is one of the founding members of the Mara North Conservancy, and also privately leases a large area of the Siria Escarpment on the opposite bank of the Mara River. This has proven to be a vital refuge for the River Pride and other wildlife in times of drought when cattle numbers increase inside the Mara North Conservancy. The area is kept free of vehicles, and Serian scouts patrol the area daily to exclude poachers.
