African Impact

African Impact brings volunteers to the Masai Mara to work with a number of community projects. Through their big cat monitoring program, volunteers work with the Mara Predator Project to track and photograph the local lion population.

Volunteers are involved with compiling monthly lion maps from sighting information collected with GPS units, and also identify lions so that they can help monitor pride dynamics. Unlike participating lodges, the African Impact team take a direct role in processing and understanding the data that they collect.

In 2012, African Impact will be contributing a second camera to lion monitoring activities, and also provide a welcome base for the Mara Predator Project team in Mara Naboisho Conservancy.
