History:

This small pride has remained around the Offbeat Mara Camp since 2008, found most often on Lion Hill and the surrounding area.

The four females found it difficult to raise cubs with the coming and going of several males. The cubs of Baakir, a very old male, were lost when two other males moved in to take over the pride.

In June 2010, one lioness was killed due to a case of conflict when she broke into a boma and killed a goat. The pride has since continued to have three core females.

In 2010, three males joined the pride, allowing them to successfully raise eight cubs. Three cubs were born to Napono in April 2010. One male cub was killed by buffaloes in June 2011, leaving four male cubs and three female cubs.

As of February 2012 the three young males, who are now sub-adults, have started to be chased from the pride by the three older males.

Stability:

Whilst this pride has had problems raising cubs in the past, they seem to be stabalizing. The three female cubs born mid-2010 are now sub-adults and will strengthen the pride with maturity.

As of February 2012, Napono is heavily pregnant with new cubs, and Lucinda is due to have cubs in early April 2012. The third lioness is mating with the pride males.
